Simple, Effective, Efficient, Functional & Attractive Stainless Steel Professional Convection Oven : Waring Pro CO900B Professional 8/9-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven
I don't usually write too many reviews, but I had to write something here for this absolutely wonderful oven. I had another convection oven before, but needed a space upgrade (Cuisinart - [...] ) ... this is an awesome oven too, but too small for what I wanted to do; it ended up going to the office which is great for heating up and cooking lunch items. Ok, back to the Waring... It cooks great, has basic interfaces without a ton of technical gadgetry; I am a geek at heart, but sometime too much gadgetry makes thing complicated, provides interfaces you never really use and most importantly increases the chances that something might break. The cooking space is just right for my needs, however the bigger bro of this baby would be nice but I do not have the counter space for it. I still can stick in a 10" round pie place in her, a 13" x 9" cake or broil pan. I love the rotisserie, works well. I have roasted a 15 lbs turkey in this baby, roasted some kick ass roasts, reheated delivered pizza that I freeze in ziplocks when I have leftovers to a freshness level with crunchiness that is better than when the pizza was delivered, OMG!!! (the convection feature does this). The convection fan is unbelievably quiet, as compared to the Cuisinart I had before. IMPORTANT! Make sure you account for an additional 3" to 4" in the back of the oven as the convection fan sticks out that much and has these metal nipples to keep you from pushing the whole back of the fan up against the wall. For me, I just let her nipples hang out... if only she was a girl :-)... as the back of the oven faces an open area in the dining room. The door and the rubber gasket work just fine and handle the heat well. When I fired her up for the first time I turned her on high heat for a good test run and to burn off and settle her in and everything went perfecto! The adjustable racks are awesome and it is neat how they have a bend down / up design which allows you more levels of adjustment from the heating elements. There is a nice internal light with a GLASS cover that is removable for bulb changing and cleaning of the glass (as it will smoke up with all the varnishing from cooking). There is one drawback, however I have found this true with even big ovens, in that the heat distribution from the convection tends to cook items in the back more than the front. This level difference is more noticeable when you push the limit on putting larger items in the oven such as a 10" pie which JUST FITS, or a roast that is so big it almost completely covers the back end of the oven... the back of the pie or roast will brown sooner than the front... simple solution is, after baking / cooking time is half complete, rotate the pan... works every time. Oh, one final word of advice, make sure you measure (or get accurate measurements) for pans and thingies that go in the oven, as the rails to hold the racks and the fan in the back take up about 0.5 inches in both directions so as to make SOME standard size pans WITH BIGGER HANDLES not to fit ... I have a fabulous no stick roast pan that is 0.5 inches too long that wont fit :-( . And finally, get a no-stick oven liner Teflon mat for the bottom of the oven and cut it a little longer than the width so it bows up on the ends (about 0.5 inch longer total should do) as the bent up ends will be beautiful in catching all the crumbs and the lost tasty gooey things that fall from above.
In the end, I give this baby 5 stars after over a year of heavy use. Also, I have not used my big self-cleaning oven since I got this baby, she is my only oven for all my oven lovin :-) ... think of all the energy I have been saving!
